Today we’re talking all about friendship. Kelly welcomes Denise Renee Poindexter and Mariana Ortega, friends and co-hosts of The Complicated DM podcast. They give us a sneak-peek into their girl chats, their faith insights, and their friendship. If you want ideas for how to integrate faith into your relationships, work, and everyday life you’re in the right place. Let’s focus on grace and identifying God in your life!
Meet Denise Renee & Mariana
Denise and Mariana have teamed up to bring an educational and fun perspective on just how complicated life can be. The Complicated DM podcast educates people on the importance of a healthy lifestyle and relationships that erase social norms. They’ve had conversations about the complications of adult friendships, going to therapy, racial health disparities, dating, and relating to siblings – just to name a few.
Denise is the director of executive recruitment for a company that serves large medical groups and health systems. She has varied career experiences in higher education including recruitment, new student services, event planning, and management of departmental operational functions.
Through various professional and personal experiences, Denise has dedicated her spare time to non-profit organizations in the Champaign-Urbana community such as Girls Go For It, CU 1:1 Mentoring Program, and the United Way Community Impact Committee. She’s also a past president of the Junior League of Champaign-Urbana. Denise has unconditional love (or slight obsession) for her dog, Sasha Renee.
Mariana is the Director at La Casa Cultural Center at the University of Illinois. She was raised in Boaco, Nicaragua until the age of four, but lived the majority of her life in the Miami, Florida area where her immediate family resides. She loves to spend time outside, hang out with friends, explore new coffee shops, go biking, and spend time with her dog, Harley Jenkins Ortega.
